Welcome back to Mondays with MacK! As I mentioned last week, I will be spending some time exploring the different colleges throughout George Mason University’s campus. The spotlight is on the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) this week because it is the second college that I am apart of at Mason. CEHD houses the School of Education, School of Kinesiology, and the School of Sport, Recreation, and Tourism Management. The college offers a wide range of degrees from undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and accelerated masters programs. I am apart of their Bachelors/Accelerated Masters (BAM) program which I began last semester and have thoroughly enjoyed it! They also offer many different minors and certificate programs as well. Both my minor, American Sign Language, and my Graduate major, Secondary Education, are housed in the college, along with many other programs.
George Mason is where I began my career in education, and the School of Education has been extremely helpful throughout the entire process. From holding study sessions for the teaching certification exams, to having an amazing team of advisors, the College of Education and Human Development has been amazing. I am proud to be a part of a school whose graduates make up 1/3 of Northern Virginia’s teachers. With George Mason University being Virginia’s largest public research university, CEHD has many members of its faculty involved in research across various topics. From Refugee Education to Sports Analytics, the College of Education and Human Development has faculty that students are able to contact for research opportunities. The college also has great opportunities for students to get involved and attend information sessions. Check out their calendar to find ways to get involved this month and next!
Over 4,000 students call CEHD home at George Mason University and I am thrilled to be a part of them. I hope you all enjoyed this week’s installment of Monday’s with MacK! As always, thank you for going on this exploration of colleges with me. See you next week!
