International Week (iWeek) turns 41!

Posted over 3 years ago  in George Mason University NewsCampus Life.

Welcome to the 41st International Week (iWeek) at George Mason University! We are excited to hold our first in-person iWeek after two years of limitations and restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The past two years have been tough on everyone. We delayed the long-overdue family visit, experienced financial hardships, struggled with mental health and well-being, and long for the end of this battle. Although it is not over, we are getting close. With COVID more under control and policies more relaxed, we hope you will take advantage of this week to connect and reconnect with one another and enjoy food and music. We all deserve it!

This year is special because it is the 50th anniversary of Mason as an independent university! We have prepared more than 30 programs and events ranging from the International Week flag parade, to sporting events, to cultural exhibits, to educational seminars and workshops, and to the closing ceremony featuring an international cuisine reception and an International Dance Competition.

We hope you attend as many events as possible, develop your global interest, build your intercultural competency, and equip yourself with the knowledge and skills to be the change we want to see in the world.

On Behalf of the iWeek Committee,

Jonathan Carmona, Assistant Director for International Engagement, International Programs and Services
Kenneth Jones, Assistant Director of Student Experience, INTO Mason
Ayleen Leonhardt, Assistant Director of Student Organizations, Student Involvement
