Housing and Residence provides a safe and supportive on-campus residential living experience for the Fairfax and SciTech campuses. We are dedicated to providing our students with the tools and support needed to thrive at Mason. Living on campus makes it easier for students to connect with their peers and conveniently access campus resources supporting academic excellence.
Here are some questions families frequently ask about Housing and Residence Life:
When can I apply for Housing?
Newly admitted freshmen who would like guaranteed housing will need to complete the Housing Application and submit their $150 fee by May 1. Returning residents are able to apply early in spring semester, while other students who wish to live on campus can apply later in the spring.
Can I select my roommate?
Yes- residents are able to group up with other students with which they wish to live.
Is it mandatory for freshmen to live on campus?
Yes! All freshmen must live on campus, unless they are exempt. Please read the exemption process overview page to find out if you are exempt from living on campus.
Here are some additional things to consider:
- Students should check their Mason email in July to get their housing assignment and roommate assignment.
